Today Monday, April 8th, RAZ SIMONE releases his latest video called “Hometown”…the same day as his court date in New York.
This new song has special meaning to Raz because of events occurring in his life recently. Read his letter below to the fans about what he’s been going through:
“My people,
On March 24th, 2013, I was arrested at The LaGuardia Airport in New York City.
I flew from Seattle LEGALLY with my gun to New York without the airline or police informing me of the differences in New York law.
I stayed in NY for 2 days but when I went to the airport to fly back to Seattle I was arrested without being informed of the change in gun laws, which occurred March 1st…not even a month before my flight.
Bottom line–they let me come in with my firearm like everything was fine, but FUCKED me when I tried to leave back with it.
I was then incarcerated and passed through three New York jails and charged with a FELONY gun charge.
I am now out on a $10,000 bail, and looking at a minimum of 5 years if I don’t beat the case.
Legally, I cannot leave New York.
As fans and supporters of my music, my team urges you to do all you can to support and give back.
I spend tens of thousands of dollars creating my music and videos for all of you and I would never charge ANYTHING for my music! EVERYTHING IS FREE! #FreeRaz
